Mental Health & Its Struggles

I’m going to be very candid.

I am struggling today. Life is feeling especially overwhelming.

I’m cycling through the idea in my head of taking a “mental health” day. I’m on the verge of a near internal emotional disaster and I don’t really know what else I can do to just give myself one day of breathing room, even though I have 2 days left to Spring Break.

Why do I feel this way?

Maybe for a myriad of reasons?

Missing my father.

Failed attempts at supporting my 5th grader.

Watching my 3rd grader have his own emotional struggles.

Piling work load and constant changes in the schedule that keep me spinning many plates. (I know we’re all going through it, but today I’m saturated.)

My infant child had some encounters of his own that can cause your adrenaline to sky rocket. I won’t elaborate.

As I finish this slice, I’ve already lost it and had to come back and forth to finish this post at least 3 times.

It’s just one of those moments where you have to let it all out, so you can reset and start over.

  1. I’m sending loving thoughts your way. Go easy on yourself and take the time you need, even if spring break is a few days away. These days are challenging all by themselves without the struggles of daily life outside of school. Hang in there!

Oh I am sending you positive vibes and complete permission to take the day off. I fully support mental health days. Sometimes you just need the space to breathe and reset. Hoping a day to do so makes you feel all the better. Hang in there!

  4. So many times, it feels necessary to “just make it two more days” but when your body feels the need for some breathing room, take it. I hope the rest of your day went well.

  5. I appreciate your vulnerability. The world right now is honestly just too much. For so many of us. For parents and teachers, and parent-teachers, teacher-parents, especially. I’m so happy you did end up taking that day. I’m about at the end of my rope right now too, but unfortunately I don’t have the option of taking a day until Saturday when my husband (who had to work in person this week) will be able to take care of my kids, so I’m trying to just hold on until then! I’m almost there!
I appreciated your exploration of the different reasons you might be feeling this way, and I hope that helped you feel like you have more of a handle on it.
